FRANCES ROOSEVELT

Frances Roosevelt has studios in Chester County, Pa. and Charleston, S.C. She states, "Growing up in Charleston I was drawn to the beauty and culture of the Sea Islands, especially the back waters and marshes. As a Pennsylvania resident I also love to paint the fields and skies of West Marlborough. After so many years of practicing the very precise work of architecture, I am happy to be painting, mostly from memory, in a loose and somewhat abstract and colorful style. I've always been interested in psychology, the evolution of conconsciousness, and the language of dreams, and I particularly admire the work of Bonnard, Matisse, Frankenthaler, and Diebenkorn."
