| Victor Letonoff is a painter working from his studio in
Lewes, Delaware. Like chiaroscuro artists of the Renaissance era, light is his most important resource. He
has been heard to say “I don’t paint things, I paint light.” He works primarily in oil and watercolor, painting still
lifes and portraits.
After a 35 year career as a senior Army officer, Letonoff
earned a certificate in the four year program at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia.
During this time, he was awarded the Thouron Award, The Morris Blackburn Prize, The Charles Toppan Prize
and The PLastic Club Award.
He attended the Ecole Des Beaux Artes in Paris to hone
his figurative painting skills. In addition, he studied with Nelson Shanks at his Philadelphia school,
Incaminati.
Letonoff has shown his work in a number of solo
exhibitions as well as juried group shows since the late 1990’s. His work is also included in several public
collections including the New Castle County Court House.
